I provide custom communications services to professional services firms operating in international markets, including writing & editing, research, social media strategy and management, business development strategy and management, and media relations support.
I began my career serving as a writer to the President of the United States in The White House during the Administration of George HW Bush. I went on to serve in senior staff roles in the California Legislature, where my focus included legislative affairs & media relations. I later worked as an aide to former British Foreign Secretary & EU Negotiator for the Former Yugoslavia David Owen, where I drafted & edited semi-scholarly publications during the campaign in support of the UK’s continued presence in the EU, while remaining outside the Euro currency zone.
I then began a focus on international business development & communications for professional services firms in public affairs, legal & financial services while working in the EU, the US & the Asia-Pacific Region. Between 2002 & 2008 I established & directed the European representative business development presence of Washington, DC-based public policy & law firm Patton Boggs LLP. Since then I’ve worked with numerous clients from around the world on comprehensive new business development and marketing communications efforts including elite boutique law firms, AmLaw 100/200 law firms, NewLaw firms, legal startups, middle market-focused boutique investment banks, merchant banks, and public affairs consulting firms.
I’m the author of A Comprehensive Guide to the Asia-Pacific Legal Markets and edit and publish AsiaLawPortal.com. I’ve also been published in the Wall Street Journal Europe, The San Gabriel Valley Business Journal, Axial Forum, Beaton Capital Blog, The Lawyer, Remaking Law Firms, Law360, Asian Legal Business & Bloomberg Law. I’m a licensed attorney in the District of Columbia & hold a Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Loyola Marymount University and a certificate in EU Studies from Sciences Po in Paris, and an online marketing leadership certification from Google’s Squared Online.
