John Grimley provides custom-tailored communications services to companies and professional services firms operating in international markets, including: Writing & Editing, Research, Social Media Strategy and Management, Business Development Strategy and Management, and Media Relations Support.

He began his career serving as a writer to the President of the United States in The White House during the Administration of George HW Bush.  He went on to serve in senior staff roles in the California Legislature, where his focus included legislative affairs & media relations.  He later worked as an aide to former British Foreign Secretary & EU Negotiator for the Former Yugoslavia David Owen, where he drafted & edited semi-scholarly publications during the campaign in support of the UK’s continued presence in the EU, while remaining outside the Euro currency zone.

He then began a focus on international business development & communications for professional services firms in public affairs, legal & financial services while working in the EU, the US & the Asia-Pacific Region. Between 2002 & 2008 he established & directed the European representative business development presence of Washington, DC-based public policy & law firm Patton Boggs LLP.

Over the course of his career he’s helped employers and clients communicate complex ideas to discerning, international audiences via the creation of thought leadership publications, topical articles, media relations materials, semi-scholarly pamphlets, e-books, books, custom proposals, speeches, requests for proposals (RFP’s), sales and marketing material, social media content and as a member of client-pitch teams.

He’s the author of A Comprehensive Guide to the Asia-Pacific Legal Markets and publishes AsiaLawPortal.com.  He’s also been published in the Wall Street Journal Europe, The San Gabriel Valley Business Journal, Axial Forum, Beaton Capital Blog, The Lawyer, Remaking Law Firms, Law360, Asian Legal Business & Bloomberg Law. He’s a licensed attorney in the District of Columbia & holds a Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Loyola Marymount University and a certificate in EU Studies from Sciences Po in Paris.
